Different than I expected. Jay and A.Keys did their thing nonetheless.

Flux Friday-Music Art
Art is everywhere right? Right. So what's better than illustrations that paint a picture of music? Take a look at some works I came across. They deserve a woot.
Okay, at first I was excited, now uber excited. After hearing the second single from The Element of Freedom, which is now being released December 15th, I feel that the album is going to be extraordinary. Better than As I Am maybe?? The song has an outerspace old school feel that's crazy. I'm wondering how the video concept is going to come through. That climbing up the mountain bit in the DMA video would have been better in this one. Really, this should have been the first single, but who knows, this album may be 24 tracks long with six singles. Hopefully. Anyway take a first listen to A.Keys' second single "Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart."
I just had an epiphany...not really, but I am going to start posting music by independent, underground, under the radar, experimenting or just fuggin around on garage band artists (who show SOME potential that is). The first artist is Daniel Lovecraft, a small town boy from Rhode Island who relocated to St. Louis. I can tell you the mixtape is different than the story the album art tells. Dude is rapping over Yeezy, Beyonce, Kings of Leon and everything else. Uber effort..The idea of someone waking up and messing around with beats all day then going back to sleep is clever. After all, how many of us music heads do that every now and again? Exactly. Listen and download Mr. Lovecraft's mixtape From a Bedroom in St. Louis below.
1/2 student 1/2 newly signed artist Mike Posner releases One Foot Out The Door. The mixtape like his mini internet series is a revelation describing his transition from college to the music industry. After hearing a few tracks, I've come to the realization that's he's very different from the artist I expected to hear being that the hip-hop world amped him so hard. I expected to hear Justin Timberlake, but got Jordan Knight....Welp, here's a personal push.
Homebase NYC presents Off the Wall Session- Ep 3 Colin Munroe
The Unsung Hero himself recently participated in Homebase NYC's video sessions highlighting ummmm dope artists. I had the opportunity to peep him performing at SOB's a minute ago. He does not play with the live shows. Dude went IN on cannonball and even gave out his number to the audience. Down to earth? Check! Take a look at what he has to say about his career and upcoming projects.
Check out the throwback video for "I Want Those Flashing Lights," a remix of Mr West's Flashing Lights.

Wale ft John Mayer - Letter
It looks like John Mayer is branching out even further with his music. Most recently he appeared on DMV representer Wale's song titled "Letter." It's a smooth little track produced by Mark Ronson and aimed at America and hip-hop's role models. It's good to finally hear some non-gogo inspired music from Wale. Look out for his album Attention Deficit to be released November 10th.
Future's new mixtape I Am Him just dropped a few days ago. He's a new artist, but also a personal favorite. It's been a long time since I was excited about hearing a mixtape, but I have good reason. I Am HIm is on an album level. The beats, lyrical content and skill are on another page out of a galactic book! My guy brings it for the people who love hip-hop, then he brings it for the ladies. I know that Future is going to be GREAT real soon. Jay..50...XXL..where you at because Future is next up. Better yet up now, if you haven't yet download the new mixtape AND the old one, get on it!! Greatnesssss.
Yur favorite guy has officially made a comeback. Well it's not like he's been out of the news, but at least his slid back into music the right way. I think the video is dope...ninja dance is craaze. The whole transforming vehicles and stuff is what I expected, but they switched it up on us. Check it out.
This video is very very visually pleasing. I like how Raheem came back from a different angle. It's also good to see Luda back on the music scene. High five to the video director.
Ok, this post is for the 90's R&B lovers like myself! Who remembers the group After 7? Ummm, probably just me but they were B-I-G back in the day from the late 80's to the mid 90's and this gentleman above is Kevon Edmonds, one of Babyface's older brothers and former members of that group. He dropped his solo debut back in 1999 and now, 10 whole years later, he is back with a new LP titled "Who Knew" and his voice is still the same! :) The new material was released this past Tuesday so if you're missing that good old school R&B, he kinda sorta brought it back for ya! ANYHOO! If you still don't remember who he is, click here to peep the music video of one of his Top 10 joints...

Afro-Punk Vol 2 Mixtape - F**k Rock Stars
I don't know why this mixtape is titled as it is. After all, Afro-Punks are half rock stars..Maybe. In my opinion, Afro-Punk folk are some of the dopest people. When I attended the Afro-Punk festival in Brooklyn this past summer, I had a great time and met some cool people. The block party has some really nice fashions and accessories. They were printing screen tees on-site, people were playing Guitar Hero outside and Michael Jackson was blasting in the street where errrrbody was dancing. Now that's a nice portrait. Cop a compilation of Afro-Punk artists to get a better idea of what the movement is all about.
There's been lots of talk about the second part of Timbo's most recent project Shock Value. Finally the release date of November 24th has been set. Concreteloop posted a few leaks, one titled "Say Something" featuring Drake. I like this one, because he's singing for a change instead of rapping. The other song is called "Morning After Dark" featuring his French artist SoShy. Timo is also working with Nelly Furtado heavy on the follow-up of her last album Loose.
Laughluster: Tay Zonday-Baby I'm Not
Remember the Chocolate Rain dude? Yeah, well he's back with a more "contemporary song." It's funny when you watch these videos but he seriously sounds like a 98 year old opera singer trapped in a younger body. I wouldn't be surprised if they scouted him for Princess and the Frog or some Disney Movie...I don't know. Either wayyy it's still hilarryy and scary.
This used to be the show. They should have continued it or something. Lowkey I would rather see season 85 of this show than The Game. I wonder what would have happened when they got older...
I don't want to say finally Brandy's back, because tracks have been leaking left and right. No one's really sure but her follow up album to Human is definitely in the works. I'm excited about the situation, because this song is pretty dope and not sooooo how do I say this grown up as the tracks from her last project. The production credits belong to Stargate....and here they are. Peep the link to listen.
I know we just posted a track from this man, but it's hot. As always. The continued leaks must be a sign that his latest mixtape Black Thoughts is about to drop. I'm mad that they re-enacted somebody throwing up in the beginning. Real nasty bogus like!
This guy goes hard! He's actually one of my favorite up and coming rappers. His sound is very uplifting and spacey. Hopefully that's not interpreted as corny, but those are the words that come to mind. I'm glad that he got his deal situation worked out so more people can get familiar with his talent. In collaboration with Rostrum Records, FrankRadio and ihiphop, his sophomore album Deal or No Deal will be release November 24th. The first single is titled "This Plane" and doesn't fail to take you on a musical flight. If you haven't heard about the man, listen to his latest solo mixtape Flight School to see what all the hype is about. Okayyyyyyyyyyyy!!
It seems that every time I sit down to do my homework I HAVE to listen to music. Some people say it's distracting...no you're just stupid...So there! It helps me focus better not only because the melodies help my eyes get into a reading groove that speeds up the process, but because I can block everyone out. Especially people that I may be studying with that ask me a thousand questions. FIGURE IT OUT YOUR DAMN SELF!! Of course that's what I'm thinking in my head, because I'm such a nice person. Anyway, whether it be hip-hop, R&B, pop, classical or the good old oldies, it's a nice combination of songs that help me get through a study session. Whenever I write an article the ipod MUST be on somebody's rotation. That's Law. Right now I'm doing some story brainstorming and I'm finding that Jesse Boykins III is the perfect artist for helping ideas surface.
However, once the good good music starts playing I find myself trying to find more stuff. What's even worse is that the internet is right there. Before I even have a paragraph I've listened to like 48 songs on YouTube alone. Then there's the similar videos within the video you're watching that aren't even songs. So at about the 13th song mark I've come across Martin and end up watching the "Gina Moving In' episode. Just when I close the tab, another blog window pops up with new music and it's a wrap.
AGAIN.
I know I'm not the only person out there that does this. That's why there's so may bloggers out in the first place. They were supposed to be going homework or business for that matter and instead got into the groove and decided to create a blog because they found their individual waviness. When I supposed to be doing homework I was listening to music and ended up creating this blog so what does that say?? My advice is to stick to itunes or better yet your headphones and your ipod so you won't be tempted to go on a time consuming musical journey. But who's to say that's a bad thing??
Last night Steph Jones released his first mixtape, excuse me lifetape titled Gravity. He's been on the twitter scene MOST DEFINITELY, but not so much on the music tip. I guess he's doing something to stay relevant. He also says the mixtape is not strictly R&B, rather R&B, pop, rap & some other stuff. Mixing it up works in some instances, but I hope the man didn't get too crazy. Nonetheless, support the man!
If you stay up on game in the mixtape world, FKi won't be a foreign name to you. They're part of Mickey Factz's GFCNY music movement. Last year, they dropped their mixtape Blue Steel which was full of hard hitting beats and lyrics to match. They're a pretty dope pair of guys in my opinion. They're about to drop another mixtape titled Magnum. The first single "Turn it Up" gives you an idea of what you're getting yourself into when you download the project. Check out the viral video below.
This song is a bit old, but it's never too late to discover good music right? Right. Anyway the video is cool so check it out. If you've never heard of Theophilus London you're slacking.
Forever reppin' Minnesota. Atmosphere never fails to please hip-hop heads. Here is their latest mixtape Leak At Will. Slug plays no games. Follow the link to listen and download.
Ok, so I was walking to class with my new ipod nano on blast (like every morning) but I decide to "shake to shuffle" my joints and lo' and behold: SALT-N-PEPA! Took me all the way back to the 90's, 1993 to be exact when these ladies dropped "Very Necessary", the album that went 5x platinum (man those were the good days)! The song had me literally L-O-L'n so I know people was looking at me sideways but listen to the lyrics and most importantly the background vocals (hilarious) and take a trip back in time for a bit. Happy Flux Friday!

Jay-Z X Drake - Simply Blended 6
I like these mixtapes, because you never know what you're going to get. Luckily this one is Drake & Jay-Z. One time a blended mixtape that I was listening to mixed Alicia Keys' "No One" with that 500 twenty-five thousand song from Rent no lie! Simply Blended 6 is okay. They could have used doper beats, but whatever.
If you're a Tyga fan you're probably thinking this is a different song than it really is. He has a song called "I'm Young Money" on The Slaughterhouse mixtape, but this is just called "Young Money". See? Anyway Young Money Artist Tyga whose last mixtape The Potential created some waves is now working on his next album The Introduction. Before then he's going to release his 8th mixtape Black Thoughts. That alone to me is crazy. Several of Tyga's mixtapes are album worthy with solid tracks.....now that's hustle!!
I keep coming across songs and interviews with Melanie Fiona which means she's hot right? Right. I like her style it's very unique....at least compared to what's on the radio right now. Her first single "Give it to me Right" was released a while back, but her second single is gaining attention now. Her debut album The Bridge was released internationally earlier this year. The project will be available in the U.S. on November 3rd. Support the girl!! Peep the video for "It Kills Me."
I love these guys. Mixing monsters FS Green and Full Crate along with vocalist Mar come together to bring you another soul sing-a-long. Well not really because there's like four words that are repeated, but it's still groovy. Plus I like the skating.
Flux Friday: Brandy
Ummmm... It's still Flux Friday for at least another hour where I'm at, annnnnd *gasp* here's a post for ya! [hold for applause]... It's one of my favorite female artists Brandy, flexing her pipes in the bathroom! Uber cute, uber dope... If you follow her on Twitter then you probably seen it... Gotta love her... :) ENJOY
Aight, Aight, Aight... Where our Hip-Hop Heads At?! Well I'm sure ya'll continually appreciate the authentic artists of this particular genre being that mainstream rappers are basically singing (at the least, their own choruses) now! If you ain't heard about Mally (from the 612) then Uber Flux is introducing you to him right naaahhhhh... Mally has dropped three albums to date, the lastest entitled "The Passion" has just recently been added to iTunes, so no, you don't gotta be in the 612 to get some Mally in ya life!
Mariah Carey has finally released her 12th album, "Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel" (Whoo that was a mouthful typeful)! It dropped this past Tuesday and is available in stores and of course on iTunes right now!
And I, Shamar, got a chance to listen to the album in full of course because I have it. If you're a MC fan then you'll appreciate her effort however it falls short of her classics. BUT, I really like the work she does with The-Dream and Tricky Stewart. Plus, if you were feeling her "heartbreak" songs from her previous albums, she has quite a few of those sad ones on this new joint.
The best thing about this album is that she doesn't over do it, even when she is pinning those extra extra soprano high notes in the background (ya'll know what I'm talking 'bout), so I'd say this is a solid effort, and yes, she's probably gonna top the charts... Again... Go cop it!
